The Art Nouveau movement started in Belgium, spread to France in the late 1800s, and lasted until the early 1920s when the Art Deco movement started taking hold. The flowing lines and plant and animal themes decorated not only architecture but also jewelry, advertising, clothing, and paintings (such as those by Czech artist, Mucha).

In this class, students will choose two doorways in Paris and complete two pieces of art over three sessions. Students will have the choice to do a full doorway or just part of it. Prior students are welcome, as we’ll be working on new subjects.

The instructor will demonstrate how to set up the  page’s composition as well as watercolor brush techniques and color layering. There will be time for sharing of ideas and feedback.

The art pictured here was completed by a former student, and it is accurate in terms of the original Paris photo, but embellished in a creative way.

This class is for ages 14 and up.

Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations you will need during the class.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
