In this exciting new class students will make a small series of textured vessels. Basic knowledge of hand building techniques is recommended. Students are encouraged tp bring in textured materials for their work (leaves, bark, rocks, shells, anything that has an interesting texture.)
Topics to be covered include:
- making and using bisqued sprig molds
- making and using paper clay
- making slump/hump molds
- layering slabs to create depth and texture
- using oxide and stain washes to highlight texture
- underglaze and glazing effects to achieve dynamic results on textured surfaces
This class is recommended for potters with some experience and B-Mix is the recommended clay.
