This event has passed.

In this exciting class, students will look at artwork by Eric Carle, Alma Thomas, Henri Matisse, Paul Klee, Yayoi Kusama, and Joan Mitchell, learn about each artist’s style, and get inspired to create their own unique paintings, paper-cut collages, and prints.

Along the way, students will (1) explore primary, secondary, analogous, and complementary colors and create color palettes to make their own abstract art, and (2) learn about relationships between shapes and patterns and how to create abstract art using bold color and methodologies.

We encourage independence with our youngest learners; all children’s classes are dropoff only. Grownups aren’t permitted to stay in the classroom with their children.

Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations your child will need during the class.

This class is specially priced as part of VisArts’ Emerging Teacher Mentorship Program (ETMP), a supported program for artists training to become teachers. This course and curriculum were developed with guidance from VisArts’ Education staff.
