COMMUNITY DARKROOM

The darkroom at VisArts is dedicated to providing the very best equipment and environment to encourage the pursuit of excellence in traditional black and white photography. Our facilities are designed to handle film processing, printmaking, toning, dry mounting and mat cutting. We have a professional staff on duty to assist our clients with all aspects of darkroom procedures.

Darkroom Hours
Summer darkroom hours are effective beginning June 16, 2008 and ending August 24. The darkroom will be closed the July 4th weekend.
Saturdays, 1:00-5:00pm
Sundays, 1:00-5:00pm

Chemistry
All chemicals for film and print development are provided.

Seven LPL Saunders Enlargers
Archival Washer with the capacity to handle up to 16”x 20” prints
Dryers for fiber-based or RC based paper
Film dryer
Dry mount press
Mat cutter
Large light table

Fees
Passes: Expires 6 months from date issued
10 hour pass: $100
20 hour pass: $160
As you go pass: $12/hour

OPEN STUDIO CERAMICS
Students with clay experience can enjoy additional time in the ceramics studio to pursue independent projects.

Materials and Fees
Clay and firing passes can be purchased from the studio monitor during open studio hours. No outside clay is permitted.

OPEN STUDIO DIGITAL LAB
The VisArts digital lab offers Mac Pro computers (running both Mac OS X and Windows) equipped with Adobe CS3 programs such as Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. Final Cut and audio production software is also available. Access to scanners is free and printing is available on a fee per page basis.

10 hr pass: $100
20 hr pass: $160
